Anechoic Chamber
Cranford Controls is one of only a few UK independent manufacturers's to have an in-house anechoic chamber for product testing and evaluation.
The bespoke anechoic chamber was specifically designed for us by Eckel to accommodate our full range of products for in house testing. The chamber is designed to work within a specific frequency range that matches the tone configurations that are used within our products. The chamber is used in conjunction with a Bruel and Kjaer 2250 sounder test meter that logs the recorded sound level for later data analysis.
The chamber is not only used for new development work, but for ongoing analysis of our products. This data acquisition is particularly important for ongoing calibration and proof of production test equipment and process control.
The chamber is located in a purpose built sound test area of the research and development department which allows easy access for the engineers. The impressive unit comprises of a steel shell outer construction measuring 2.6 x 2.6 metres. The internal surfaces are fitted with special acoustic panels that have been precisely shaped and placed so as to ensure the exact acoustic properties are achieved during sound testing. The specification of the chamber including the acoustic panels gives us a free field working area that allows us to measure all products at a distance of 1 meter so as to comply with third party test criteria.
With this level of capital equipment investment, Cranford Controls can ensure that it remains at the forefront of sounder design and manufacture not just for today but for ongoing future designs.
